Final Exam

The exam is from 4PM to 6PM. It will consist of 50 multiple choice questions and 2 short answer questions. Please remember to bring your scantron sheet, pencil and a Calculator.

“Brand” – is a name, symbol or sign that identifies a product and differentiates it from the competition.

Brand Equity: the added value a given brand name gives to a product beyond the functional benefits provided.

Building Brand Equity: Brand Salience -> Brand Performance, Imagery -> Consumer judgements, feeling -> Consumer Brand Resonance.

Class Review: Advertising

Advertising – any paid form of non-personal presentation and promotional of ideas, goods, or services by an identified sponsor using mass media.

Types of Ads:
* Based on what is advertised:
* Product or Institutional Ads

# Based on content:
* Pioneering (or Informational) ads
* Competitive (or Persuasive) ads
* Comparative ads
* Reminder ads
* Reinforcement ads

which ads to use during stages in the PLC?

Steps is developing an advertising program:
1. Identifying target audience
2. Specifying advertising objectives
3. Setting advertising Budget.

Media Planning:
To Whom?
* Demographics? Psychographics?
* Where do their emotions lie (intangible benefits)?
* What will “pull the trigger”?

Achieve What? (Objectives)
* Awareness? Trial? Educate? Persuasion? Switching?

Say What (Content)?
* What are we trying to convey? (Quality, Price, Place)

Which Channel?
* TV? Radio? Magazine? Billboard? Internet?
* Driven by target audiences, objectives and budgets.

Measuring Ad-Effectiveness:

GRP=Reach x Frequency

CPM = Cost of reaching 1000 individuals/households (traditional media) or cost of 1000 impressions (online media)

Nielsen TV Ratings/Score. Each rating point roughly equals 1.5 million households. Score represents the % of televisions tuned into a particular show.
